ABOUT ALLOTMENT OF BREEDER SEED
National Seed Association of India (NSAI) acts as service centre for allotment of breeder seed to private parties.
From this year onwards the indents of breeder seed will be registered on line. The system of on-line will accept indents for breeder seed of both horticultural and agricultural crops for both seasons (kharif and rabi) The on-line system will be operational in December and January. The system will stop accepting indents after 31st january. Therefore the indentors must send their indents in the 2nd week of November every year. Obviously, the indents received late will not be registered as the system will not accept once it stops functioning...
The last date for receipt of indents for vegetable and field crops (both rabi and kharif) in the NSAI Secretariat is 15th November every year .as sometime is taken in the Secretariat to process it cropwise, partywise and vaietywise to submit a hard copy of statement of indents to the Ministry of Agriculture in addition to on line registration..
Allotment of breeder seed of vegetable and field crops is made next year in March/April for Kharif sowing and August/September for rabi season. .For example, the indents submitted in January 2009 will be considered for allotment in the year 2010.
The same calendar is followed for every ensuing year.
Submission of report on lifting of breeder seed and conversion of the same into Foundation Seed is a must for every allotment made by the Ministry of Agriculture as the same is discussed and seriously viewed in the Zonal Seed Review Meetings.
Processing fee of Rs.500/- per indent per year is chargeable from those who are not Members of Seed Association of India. The processing fee is likely to be raised to Rs.1000/- soon in view of high cost of stationery and postage.
